Oral Appliances
Oral appliances may be called: Night guards, Mouthpieces, Orthotics or Splints. More frequently dentists have to construct and fabricate these oral appliances to manage bruxism (tooth clenching and/or grinding), facial pain, headaches and TMJ disorders or to prevent sports injuries. These appliances as well as their indications are not the same. An improper selection of incorrect design or fabrication of these devices may cause unwarranted complications. Therefore, we perform a prefabrication examination and take adequate and necessary records, select appropriate appliance and design it prior to its fabrication. In addition, we take careful procedure in and inserting these appliances and give post-insertion instructions of their use and expected outcome. Additionally, we continually supervise these appliances to minimize possible complications and ensure success.
